Gencad announces our newest product Find & Replace!!!
Have you ever need to convert a design from one tool number to another to either reuse the design as a starting point or maybe you need to design an opposite.
Typically you would have to manually change the part numbers and instance names in Catia V5 then save each part or product with the new part number. This method is not only prone to typographical errors but can be very time and can also lead to invalid constraints.
Find & Replace is the solution to all these problems.
Simply copy the folder of the design that you want to convert.
Open the top-level product of the design.
Run the Find & Replace.
Type in the old tool number as shown in the current design.
Type in the new desired tool number.
After it has finished just delete the old files from the folder and you are ready to go.
Find & Replace takes care of the save management and at a mere fraction of the amount of time. A medium size assembly of 150-200 parts will convert typically in less than a minute. Typically an assembly of this size would take 2 hours to convert manually.
